築四百年という欅の一枚板の重厚な門をくぐると、三五十年前に上杉藩の大庄屋屋敷として建てられた、東北特有の曲家の風格ある破風（はふ）に出迎えられます。
各部屋に備えられた露店風呂は、一階は天然の蔵王石をくりぬいた岩風呂、二階は檜風呂。
温泉はタンクに溜めず、加水せず、源泉からダイレクトに各室に届けられ、湯守によって常に四三度前後に保たれています。

スタイリッシュなカウンターが調理台を囲むライブキッチンスタイルのダイニングで供されるのは、地元置賜盆地の食材と、山形の伝統料理を軸にした旬の料理。

ハイライトは、目の前で炊き上げられる有機無農薬栽培のコシヒカリ。

一反に通常の半分の株数のみを植えて育てられた米は、粒が大きく、甘さや香りが口中に広がります。

The highlight of the dinner is koshihikari rice grown by organic non-Pesticide cultivation cooks in front of you.

昼と夜、夏と冬の大きな寒暖差が野菜や果物、肉類を滋味深く育み、掘ればたちどころに効験あらたかな温泉が湧き出すという、神に選ばれたかのごとく豊かな自然に恵まれた赤湯温泉。
